CARSON CITY, NV (August 20, 2026). Following a record-breaking inaugural season that drew 15,000 visitors, Dark Prison Haunted House is returning to the historic Nevada State Prison under a new five-year contract with the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society (NSPPS).
Operating across 19 nights from September 25 through November 1, the industry-leading attraction delivers significant economic impact with a large tourist draw and employs over 100 local actors and staff. "Fans who joined us last year can expect a completely refreshed experience with new twists, new frights, and even more reasons to brave the prison after dark," says Lucia Maloney, General Manager of NSPPS.
This season features a transformed, full-night-out destination anchored by an expanded Entertainment Zone in the prison yard with interactive games, live music and performances, themed bars, food trucks, and roaming monsters. New for 2026, artists will also lead exclusive Behind-the-Scenes tours highlighting the attraction's custom artistry craftsmanship.
"I'm most proud of our set detailing this season," says Holly Spahr, Owner and CEO of Dark Prison Haunt. "So if you admire the artistry it takes to build immersive sets and the visuals of high quality props (made in house by our team at our VEXA studios) we're the attraction to attend this fall for sure!"
"We added a level of world-building beyond anything we've done before," adds Ryan Loetscher, CSO and VP of Production. "We're really going for a true, immersive experience that puts you into a story."
Due to capacity limits, advance tickets are strongly recommended at darkprison.com. Members of the press are invited for behind-the-scenes tours and creator interviews. Media kits are available at darkprison.com/media.
